Synology Active Backup is used by many MSPs for local and offsite machine, M365, and Google Workspace backups. This guide will provide some general steps for configuring the email notifications on the Synology NAS, and configuring checks for the various types of backups. Synology backup emails and email notification settings can vary depending on the version of DSM and the type of job, so this is meant to be a general overview, and not an all-encompassing guide.
If you're unfamiliar with creating Checks in CheckCentral, please read through our Check Creation Guide first. Once you're comfortable with how the checks work, the information below will provide details on using notification rules in the Synology UI, and what criteria you can use in your Checks for matching and determining Success statuses.
You'll likely want to create a custom recipient profile on the NAS to send only the backup notifications to CheckCentral. The destination email address in the notification rule should be your base CheckCentral email address. You can access the settings for recipient profiles in Synology DSM > Control Panel > Notification > Email.
Below are some screenshots of the notification types we recommend sending to CheckCentral.
